Christmas Party and Gift Giveaway for Children with Cancer

The Kern County Cancer Foundation (KCCF) hosted their annual Pediatric party on Saturday, December 16th 11am-2pm at CBCC 6501 Truxtun Ave Bakersfield, Ca 93309. All the children who are part of KCCF’s Pediatric Mobile Angel Unit Program were gifted presents along with their siblings.
Santa Claus distributed over 100 toys donated by Kern Family Health Care, Hermanos Unidos and the Bakersfield Community. Each family member enjoyed a hot meal, caroling, arts and crafts and pictures with Santa. This year KCCF partnered with Labors of the Harvest to donate Christmas dinner baskets for each of the families. In addition, BFF Mobile Petting Zoo was their providing some extra fun for the children and their family.
Michelle Avila, Executive Director for KCCF states “This event is cherished by the children and families in our program…oftentimes these are the only gifts they receive for Christmas. The KCCF staff and volunteers are overjoyed by the generosity of our community and look forward to seeing the happiness that this event brings to families who are struggling with cancer and other obstacles this holiday season.”

About the Kern County Cancer Foundation: The Kern County Cancer Foundation provides financial assistance to Kern County cancer patients with medical bills related to cancer treatment. Since inception in 2012 we have committed over $4 million to over 800 local patients through funds provided to the organization by private donors. We also provide transportation for children with cancer through our Pediatric Mobile Angel Unit program. The children in this program need to travel outside of the area to Valley Children’s Hospital, UCLA Mattel and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for treatment.
