Our Programs

We are proud to be the largest provider of cancer support services in Kern County. We provide one-on-one patient financial navigation for our local cancer patients. All service are currently provided out of our Bakersfield offices however in Spring 2024 we will begin traveling to the outlying communities of Kern County through our Mobile Navigation Program.

Our Patient Financial Navigators provide support through our following programs:

Financial Assistance Program

Underinsured or uninsured patients may be awarded assistance to bridge the gap between insurance costs and cancer related treatments.

Our program provides qualifying individuals up to $50,000 per person in a lifetime with the following out-of-pocket medical expenses related to cancer treatment:

  • Deductibles
  • Co-pays
  • Share of Cost
  • Prescriptions
  • Insurance premiums

Financial Education Program

Our trained staff and professional volunteers provide classes and individual education for patients on available financial assistance programs, insurance conversion and an introduction to estate planning.

Resource and Referral

KCCF collaborates with many local and national organizations who may assist patients with utility bills, transportation, food assistance, transportation and more. Our Patient Financial Navigators will help guide patients through the application process for resources that will help relieve the financial burden of a cancer diagnosis.

Pediatric Mobile Angel Unit

As there is not a treatment facility for children with cancer in Kern County, we assist children with cancer and their families on their journey to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera, UCLA Mattel, City of Hope, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Stanford and more. For eligible pediatric families we provide gas cards and free shuttles.
