Michelle Avila named Nonprofit Profession of the Year at Kan Awards

Michelle Avila, Executive Director of the Kern County Cancer Foundation (KCCF), received the Nonprofit Professional of the Year award on June 5, 2024, from the Kan Leadership Awards.

The awards ceremony took place at the Woman’s club of Bakersfield located at 2030 18th Street.

KCCF’s Board members, staff along with her family joined her to celebrate her recognition in Kern County.

Michelle has been supporting cancer patients for more than 22 yrs, making it part of her life’s work.

Millions of dollars have been raised through her efforts throughout the years to insure financial assistance to our local patients in Kern County for their medical bills.

In the past she has also organized cancer screening events, educational classes, and patient transports. KCCF continues to go far and beyond for our patients, due to the support from our community members.

Kern County Cancer Foundation

In 2012, local oncologists and community members rallied together to start Kern County Cancer Foundation to eliminate the financial burden brought on by a cancer diagnosis.
